Log in across all your devices
Trick Dash never collects your email, phone number, or any personal data. Here's how to move your account between iPhone, Android, and the web.
Two ways to log in
Recommended
Passkeys
Passkeys use Face ID, Touch ID, fingerprint, or your device password to log you in. They sync automatically across your devices through iCloud Keychain (Apple), Google Password Manager (Android/Chrome), or your browser's built-in password manager. Set up once, log in everywhere.
Recovery Codes
An 8-character code that moves your account to a new device. Generated from your existing device, valid for 30 days, single use. On the new device, redeeming the code lets you set up a fresh passkey. If the new device can't create passkeys (managed work computer, kiosk, IT-locked browser), the recovery code instead signs you in for a 24 hour session.
| Passkey | Recovery Code |
| Works across devices | Yes, auto-syncs | Yes, manual |
| Reusable | Unlimited | Single use |
| Expires | Never | 30 days |
| Apple to Android | Requires QR scan | Easiest method |
| Works without biometrics | No | Yes (24 hour session) |
Setting up a passkey
A passkey is a cryptographic key stored securely on your device. It replaces passwords entirely. When you set one up on Trick Dash, it syncs to all your devices through your platform's keychain.
- Open Trick Dash and go to Settings (gear icon, top right)
- Tap Account Security
- Tap Set Up Passkey
- Authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, fingerprint, or your device password
This is a one-time setup. You won't need to do this again on this device.
- Done. Your passkey syncs automatically across your devices.
Logging in on a new device with your passkey
If your new device is on the same platform (e.g., both Apple, or both Android/Chrome), your passkey should appear automatically when you open Trick Dash.
If you're moving between platforms (e.g., iPhone to Android), you can use your phone as a security key:
- Open Trick Dash on the new device
- Go to Settings then Account Security
- Tap Sign in with Passkey
- Your browser will show an option to scan a QR code with your phone
- Scan the QR code using the device that has your passkey
- Authenticate on your phone. Your account transfers instantly.
Using a recovery code
Recovery codes are a simple, platform-agnostic way to move your account. They work in any scenario: iPhone to Android, Android to web, web to iPhone, or any other combination. They also work on devices where biometric authentication is disabled.
On your current device (the one you're logged into):
- Open Trick Dash and go to Settings
- Tap Account Security
- Tap Generate Recovery Code
- Write down or screenshot the 8-character code
The code is valid for 30 days and can only be used once. Generating a new code rotates the old one out, so always use the most recent.
On your new device:
- Open Trick Dash. On the welcome screen, tap I have a recovery code
- Enter your 8-character code
- If your device can create passkeys, you'll be prompted to set one up with Face ID, Touch ID, fingerprint, or your device password. Approve, and you're signed in permanently on this device.
This is the recommended path. Your account becomes passkey-bound on this device, so you don't need to keep the recovery code afterwards.
- If your device can't create passkeys (work-managed browser, kiosk, IT-locked iCloud Keychain), Trick Dash offers a 24 hour session instead. Tap Continue with 24 hour session and you're signed in for the next 24 hours.
When the session expires, generate a fresh recovery code from a personal device and redeem it again on the corporate device.
Common scenarios
iPhone to iPhone (or iPad)
If both devices use the same Apple ID, your passkey syncs through iCloud Keychain. Just open Trick Dash on the new device and your account loads automatically. No action needed.
Android to Android
If both devices use the same Google account, your passkey syncs through Google Password Manager. Open Trick Dash in Chrome on the new device and your account loads automatically.
iPhone to Android (or vice versa)
Passkeys don't sync between Apple and Google. Use a recovery code for the smoothest experience. Generate the code on your old device, enter it on the new one, and you'll be prompted to set up a passkey with the new platform's keychain. If both devices are nearby, you can also scan a QR code during the passkey sign-in flow.
Phone to desktop browser
Open Trick Dash in your desktop browser. Go to Account Security and tap "Sign in with Passkey." Your browser will prompt you to scan a QR code with your phone. Scan it, authenticate, and you're in. Alternatively, generate a recovery code on your phone and enter it on desktop.
New phone, old one lost or broken
If you set up a passkey and your new phone uses the same Apple ID or Google account, your passkey is already synced through the cloud. Open Trick Dash and you're back in.
If you never set up a passkey, your account can't be recovered. This is by design: we don't store emails or phone numbers, so there's no "forgot password" flow. This is why we strongly recommend setting up a passkey.
Using Trick Dash on multiple devices at once
With a passkey, you can be logged in on multiple devices simultaneously. Your profile, favorites, and conversations stay in sync. Messages arrive in real time on all devices through WebSocket.
Work phone, school phone, or any managed device
Some phones and computers are managed by an employer, school, or other organization. The IT admin can disable Face ID enrollment, Touch ID, iCloud Keychain, Google Password Manager, or passkey creation entirely. If you tap "Create New Account" on a managed device and nothing happens, or you see a generic error, this is usually why.
Trick Dash supports two paths for managed devices:
Option 1, Cross-device sign-in (recommended). Create your account on your personal phone or a desktop browser first, where passkeys aren't restricted. Then, on the managed device, tap "Use a passkey from another device" on the welcome screen. Your phone will display a QR code. Scan it with your personal device, approve with Face ID / Touch ID, and you're signed in on the managed device, no passkey created locally. Trick Dash uses the standard FIDO Hybrid Transport flow for this. Bluetooth proximity check + encrypted internet tunnel. Nothing persistent is stored on the managed device's keychain.
Option 2, Recovery code with 24 hour session. If cross-device sign-in is blocked too (some IT setups disable Bluetooth, or block the FIDO tunneling protocol), generate a recovery code from your personal device and tap "I have a recovery code" on the managed device. Enter the code. Trick Dash will detect that the device can't create passkeys and offer to sign you in with a 24 hour session instead. Tap "Continue with 24 hour session" and you're in. The session is full-access, single-device, single-use; the recovery code is consumed and no persistent credential is left on the managed device. When the 24 hours expire, generate a fresh code and redeem again.
If you need to use Trick Dash long-term on a managed device, ask your IT admin whether iCloud Keychain or Google Password Manager can be permitted. Otherwise rotate recovery codes daily.
Frequently asked questions
What if I don't set up a passkey or save a recovery code?
Your account lives only on your current device. If you lose the device, clear your browser data, or uninstall the app, your account is gone permanently. We can't recover it because we don't store any identifying information.
Is my passkey sent to Trick Dash's servers?
No. Only the public half of the key is stored on our server. The private half never leaves your device (or your platform's encrypted keychain). This is the same technology used by banks, Google, and Apple for passwordless authentication.
Can I have multiple passkeys?
Currently one passkey per account. Since passkeys sync through iCloud Keychain or Google Password Manager, one passkey covers all your devices on the same platform. For cross-platform, use a recovery code.
My recovery code isn't working.
Recovery codes expire after 30 days and are single-use. Generating a new code rotates the old one out, so always use the most recent. If the code has been used or expired, generate a fresh one from the device you're currently logged in on. Codes are 8 characters, letters and numbers only (no O, 0, I, or 1 to avoid confusion).
I see "Passkeys are not supported on this device."
Some older browsers and managed devices don't support WebAuthn passkeys. Try updating your browser to the latest version. If it still doesn't work, generate a recovery code from a device that does support passkeys, then redeem it on the unsupported device. You'll be offered a 24 hour session instead of a permanent passkey on that device.
"Create New Account" doesn't seem to do anything on my work phone.
Most likely your phone is managed by your employer or school and the IT admin has disabled passkey creation, biometric enrollment, or iCloud Keychain. The fix is to create your account on a personal device first (or a desktop browser), then sign in on the managed device using "Use a passkey from another device" on the welcome screen, which scans a QR code with your personal phone. See the "Work phone, school phone, or any managed device" scenario above for full steps.
Why no email login?
Privacy is core to Trick Dash. We don't store your email address, so there's nothing to use for "forgot password." Passkeys give you the same account security (actually stronger) without requiring personal information. Your identity stays yours.
I want to delete my account on one device but keep it on another.
Account deletion is permanent and removes your data from all devices. If you just want to sign out of one device, clear the browser data or uninstall the app on that device only. Your account continues on any other device where you're logged in.
